I wouldn’t know if Hard Knox is good compared to other restaurants. I don’t know enough about Southern or Soul food to know what’s good or not. This is California and cooking food can be learned but in my experience so far, it hasn’t been the case.

Just sayin.īut that’s something I’ll have to get over. I mean, if I walked into a taqueria and saw an elderly Asian couple behind the counter, I’d probably kindly pretend I forgot something, walk out and not go back. Idk, I’ve had Korean food and Japanese food made by non Koreans and non Japanese and they just didn’t put the same level of care and quality control into it that I would expect. As an Asian person, I’d be a bit skeptical of Asian food being made by non Asians. I suppose it’s the same way with other foods.

I think some people who come from that heritage where that food is made are protective of it and see it as unauthentic when made by someone not of that heritage. Well apparently the guy lived in Texas for a time and worked in a restaurant cooking Southern dishes. We hope you enjoy your stay in r/AskSF and gain some useful information from your visit.
